FCFK Hackney is 1!

Thank you to everyone who helped us to celebrate our birthday at The Empress, Victoria Park on Wednesday 24th October 2012. It was a great night and the perfect opportunity to meet, and thank, our lovely bakers, referrers and supporters.

Head Chef, Elliot Lidstone, treated us to a demonstration of a flourless chocolate cake and provided the most amazing snacks (and wine!). There was a raffle with fantastic prizes donated by local businesses and we feasted on cakes provided by Wholefoods, Nana Rose’s Pantry and FCFK Hackney’s own Arianna, who made our wonderful birthday cake. Free Cakes for Kids Hackney is a community service for families who find it difficult to provide a birthday cake for their child. The cakes are baked by volunteers from the local area. Free, friendly and confidential.

At the heart of Free Cakes for Kids Hackney are individual birthday cakes. Put simply, we match families in need with passionate local bakers. We work with local organisations in Hackney that support children and families, who make referrals to our service.
